Having seen his brother and father battle it out just a couple of weeks previously, Prince William took to the polo field over the weekend for a charity match. Never one for the quiet life, the dashing young prince looked fit and full of energy as his Ladyswood team turned out to beat Sherston in the Sherston Boules and Carnival 2001 match.
After an adventurous gap year which would have left many hankering after a more sedate way to spend the summer, Prince Charles’ eldest proved he still has plenty of fuel in the tank. Wearing the team’s beige top and white slacks, he was cheered on from the stands by his younger brother Prince Harry. William wasn’t the only star on the field, as the local side had its own celebrity player in model Jodie Kidd.

The 19-year-old, who celebrated his birthday last month at Highgrove, is due to start a course in History of Art at the Scottish university of St Andrews in September. Prince Harry, meanwhile, has opted for a different sort of gap year from Wills: when the time comes, he aims to learn about fine wines and cuisine while improving his skiing by taking a job “below stairs” at the Walserhof hotel in Klosters in the Swiss Alps.
