The royal wedding of the year is just three weeks away, and the invitations have long been sent out. But now HELLO! can tell you who you will see at the nuptials of Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway and his fiancée, Mette-Marit Tjessem, at Oslo Cathedral.
According to a spokesperson for the Norwegian royal house, the Prince of Wales and the Earl and Countess of Wessex will be representing Britain on August 25. Other royals who have already accepted their invitation include: Queen Sofia and Prince Felipe of Spain, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, her sons Frederik and Joachim (as well as the latter’s wife, Alexandra), and Monaco’s Prince Albert.
The Swedish royals are making it a family occasion, with King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia bringing their three children. King Albert and Queen Paola of Belgium, and Crown Prince Philippe are also on the list of acceptees; Philippe’s wife Mathilde will not be there as she is six months' pregnant.
The next royal couple to make it official, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his fiancée Maxima Zorreguieta, will both attend, as will Maxima’s future brother-in-law, Prince Constantijn, and his wife Laurentien. And they have a fun-packed weekend to look forward to.
After lunch in the royal palace on the Friday, there will be a gala dinner organised by the Norwegian government in Akershus Castle, which will be attended by luminaries of Norwegian culture. Actress Liv Ullmann and Jostein Gaarder, the author of Sophie’s World, are expected to attend.
