Just days after returning from their US honeymoon, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and his new bride Mette-Marit, along with the rest of the Norwegian royal family, presided over a Royal Guard procession in Oslo. The handsome prince, sporting a recently-grown beard, stood alongside his wife as she took part in her first official engagement since becoming crown princess.
King Harald joined the couple on the balcony of the royal palace, as did Queen Sonja and Princess Martha Louise, who, along with Mette-Marit, were decked out in overcoats to guard against the chill.
The Crown Princess is well-prepared for official engagements, as she undertook rigorous training in royal practices and protocol in the months prior to her betrothal to the crown prince. Mette-Marit first joined the royal family on the balcony last May, at the parade celebrating the country's revered Constitution Day. She most recently greeted well-wishers from the same spot after her August 25 wedding.
Haakon and Mette-Marit are expected to attend Princess Martha Louise’s 30th birthday party this weekend, along with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
