To some people he was just a face in the crowd – and that’s exactly how Harry Wales wanted it. The 17-year-old prince was at Twickenham to watch the England rugby team score a record-breaking 134 points against Romania at the weekend.
The 61,000 spectators were unaware that a royal was in their midst as Harry, dressed casually in an England rugby shirt and black woolly hat, hugged Jayne Woodward, the wife of the team coach, as they watched Jason Robinson run over half the length of the pitch to score a try.
“Everybody around the ground was cheering, clapping and hugging each other when Jason went over the line,” said an onlooker. “It was just one of those great moments. Everybody, including Harry, was hollering and shouting.”
The younger son of Prince Charles is sports-mad. He plays rugby at Eton, as well as skiing, playing polo and riding to hounds, and is a fan of London soccer club Arsenal. Brother William does not share his footie affiliations and supports Midlands team Aston Villa.
