Sarah Ferguson and young Princess Beatrice attended a costume ball in aid of the Duchess' Children In Crisis charity on Wednesday night at London’s Café Royal. Mother and daughter joined in the spirit of the evening by donning elaborate carnival-style masks and smiling for photographers. The event was in aid of the children of Afghanistan who are facing worsening conditions as the winter draws in.
Leaving aside her sensible Saint George uniform for the evening, 13-year-old Beatrice was smartly turned out in a fashionable black and white trouser suit and shirt combination which complemented her mother's elegant monochrome evening gown.
The UK-based charity which hosted the bash was founded by the Duchess of York in 1993 following an emotional visit to Poland. During the trip, Sarah met with children suffering from illnesses contracted as a result of industrial pollution and returned home determined to make a difference. Today Children In Crisis supports projects in war-torn Sierra Leone, plus Belarus, China and Pakistan.
