The wedding is still five months away, but more details are gradually emerging of Princess Martha Louise of Norway and Ari Behn’s May nuptials. The couple, who announced their engagement at the tail-end of last year, have already made public their choice of best man and matron of honour, not to mention the most sought-after detail – who will design the 30-year-old princess’ dress.

That honour has gone to Wenche Lyche, Martha Louise’s favourite dress designer, and the talent behind the dresses she wore for her 30th birthday and her brother Haakon’s August wedding.

She and her intended, a writer who has enjoyed his first success as a broadcaster recently, posed for photos with the two people they have chosen as their wedding attendants, actor Kare Conradi, who Ari has chosen as his best man, and Marianne Ulrichsen, a long-time friend of the princess’ and the daughter of one of Norway’s wealthiest men.

The wedding venue is to be the royal property of Stiftsgarden in Trondheim. The bride’s father, King Harald V, and his wife Queen Sonia will play host to hundreds of guests after the ceremony and hold a dinner-dance.

As is the norm, representatives from most European families will attend the ceremony, and will be accommodated either at Stiftsgarden, on board the royal yacht Norge or in local hotels.
