Princess Madeleine of Sweden, who left London at the beginning of the year due to the over-enthusiastic attention of the paparazzi, has decided on the next step of her career. The blonde, blue-eyed beauty is to take a part-time course in law before choosing the subject she will study at university.

Nineteen-year-old Madeleine spent three months last year studying English in the British capital, but returned to Stockholm after taking exams in the discipline before Christmas. Although she had appealed for privacy, press interest in the teenager was so strong that she had to hold a press conference at the Swedish embassy in an attempt to give the world’s press what they wanted.

“I’ve felt chased,” she said. “It’s no fun to have people lying in wait for you at the door of your house.”

But the Scandinavian princess will be in the public eye this weekend as she accompanies her family to Amsterdam for the wedding of Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, the heir to the Dutch throne.
