Royal rebel Zara Phillips is set to marry her boyfriend of two years, jockey Richard Johnson, according to British press reports. Despite Zara’s tongue-in-cheek revelation to HELLO! at Christmas that Richard is “not exactly” romantic, friends of the couple say that they are ready to walk down the aisle, especially after Zara’s mother Princess Anne consented to the pair living together.
“They are very settled with each other now,” one friend told the Daily Mail. “They work well together and I don’t think anyone would be surprised if they said they were going to get married.” Speaking to the Daily Express, another confidant said: “She is still very young but has decided that it is time to settle down.”
Twenty-four-year-old Richard and Zara, who turns 21 in May, live together at the National Hunt jockey’s £400,000 house in the Cotswolds, not far from the Princess Royal’s residence at Gatcombe Park
Buckingham Palace refused to confirm on Sunday that an engagement was imminent. “We would never comment on a private matter concerning a member of the Royal Family,” a palace spokesman said.
