One of Europe’s most eligible princes seems set to be off the market soon, as a Danish TV station has reported that Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark plans to marry his Australian girlfriend Mary Donaldson.

According to TvDanmark, which cites political sources for the information, the handsome prince will marry his love of two years on May 24 of next year. Reports are conflicted however, on whether Frederik will propose in the coming days or if the two are already betrothed. Whatever the case, the Danish royal palace has not confirmed the news, issuing a statement that it “had not heard word of any engagement”.

Though Mary is the prince’s constant companion on holidays and at private events, Frederik’s mother Queen Margrethe admitted last month that she had not yet met her son’s 30-year-old girlfriend. The Danish court confirmed the couple’s relationship last February. Thirty-four-year-old Frederik and the Tasmanian-born attorney have been dating since Crown Prince Felipe of Spain introduced the pair at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. The striking brunette recently moved to Copenhagen from London, and works for technology company Navision, a Danish subsidiary of Microsoft.
