Monaco's royal family have been enjoying some spectacular entertainment this weekend, with lifelong circus fan Prince Rainier taking his daughter Princess Stephanie and grandchildren Camille, Louis and Pauline along to the Rampe Circus Festival.
Like her father, Stephanie is a big fan of the circus, and this is her second visit in as many weeks. The princess also accompanied her brother Albert and their father when the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival opened on January 16.
She has more experience of that world than your average royal, having once lived in a Swiss caravan with elephant trainer and circus owner Franco Knie. Meanwhile, Albert and Prince Rainier are jury members of the international festival.
While three generations of the Monegasque house were enjoying the acrobatic animal magic of the Rampe show, Princess Caroline was across town enjoying a slightly more refined – but no less impressive – performance. The 45-year-old watched opera singer Andrea Bocelli help the legendary Puccini masterpiece Madame Butterfly take flight. Afterwards she joined the Italian tenor and his wife for dinner.
