Members of the royal family continued to help raise the spirits of British troops this week, with morale-boosting visits to military bases.
Prince Charles returned to RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset, where he underwent helicopter training 30 years ago. "He wants to show support and appreciation of them and their families at this time," said a spokesperson. The Prince visited army bases in Dover and Colchester last week, where one soldier's wife commented: "It was really uplifting to know that he cares."
Meanwhile, the Earl and Countess of Wessex toured RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire where the royal couple chatted with families of airmen and women fighting in the Gulf.
This week's visits were the latest in a string of engagements the royals are undertaking in order to buoy up the British troops at war. The Queen, who recently visited RAF Honington in Suffolk, issued a message of support last week: "My thoughts are with you all and with your families and friends who wait at home for news and pray for your safe return."
