The octogenarian who may one day become the Prince of Wales' father-in-law will soon have a new place to lay his head. A room has reportedly been prepared for him at Clarence House, the new official London residence of the heir to the throne.
Eighty-six-year-old Bruce Shand, father of Prince Charles' companion Camilla Parker Bowles, will have the option of staying over at the renovated mansion, once the official home of the Queen Mother. With his other daughter - whose home he currently shares - due to spend more time in the US, the former Queen's Body Guard is making some readjustments to his life.
His daughter, who has been inseparable from her aging dad in recent months, will also have a private office in the 19th-century house adjoining St James's Palace.
The new living situation seems to indicate Camilla is becoming further integrated into the royal fold. Charles' two children, Prince William, who soon turns 21, and 18-year-old Prince Harry will also share the Prince's new official London residence.
Clarence House is undergoing extensive refurbishing and redecoration in the run-up to Charles' move in a few months. The royal residence will be open to the public from August 6 to October 17.
