Princess Anne's fashionable daughter Zara Phillips stole the show on the opening day of Royal Ascot, turning heads in an asymmetrical floral frock topped with the high society event's must-have accessory– an eye-catching hat.
Zara, who arrived on the arm of her beau, jockey Richard Johnson, showed off a flirty headpiece consisting of a single oversized white bloom. And despite the grey skies overhead and occasional rain shower, the 21-year-old royal completed her springtime look with a pair of glamorous shades.
The blonde wasn't the only Ascot guest whose hat was blossoming with giant flowers, a motif which seems to be one of the hot trends for this season. But with the touch-and-go weather, many of the ladies were forced to take shelter under umbrellas to protect their flamboyant headgear from wilting.
The premier social event of the year would not be complete without the appearance of the Queen, who arrived in an open top carriage alongside her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
The royal party also included the Prince of Wales and well as the Earl of Wessex and his pregnant wife Sophie, who opted for a delicate pale pink outfit and matching hat for the occasion.
