Japan's Princess Masako has been crowned the true queen of style after nearly 20,000 of you voted in the hellomagazine.com Most Stylish Royal Lady poll.

The petite crown princess beat off some stiff competition from the likes of Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco and Queen Rania of Jordan to take first place. At the close of voting, nearly a quarter of you had been charmed by Masako's conservative elegance, compared with 17 per cent for teenage beauty Charlotte and 16 per cent for the Netherlands' Princess Maxima, in third position.

Fourteen per cent meanwhile felt that Rania, always immaculately turned-out, deserved to win, but Britain's fashion-conscious Zara Phillips only managed seven per cent.

It was also a close run thing in the Most Stylish Male category. Andrea Casiraghi of Monaco managed to pip Prince William at the post, but only just. Princess Caroline's eldest child took 31 per cent of the vote overall, with Wills following closely behind on 27 per cent.

Spain's statuesque Crown Prince Felipe also gave a strong showing, with 13 per cent, while 10 per cent of you backed our own Prince Harry. King Abdullah of Jordan didn't fare quite so well, however, as he only managed three per cent of the vote.
