Young royals lead Christmas celebrations

The large contingent of young Royals headed up by Princes William and Harry were the big attraction at this year's busy Christmas weekend at the Queen's Sandringham House Estate near Norfolk. Members of the Royal Family made the most of the sunny but crisp winter weather as they made the short walk from the nearby Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene's church to attend the traditional Christmas Day service.

Prior to the ceremony, the ever-elegant Zara Phillips chatted outside with Wills and Harry. The 23-year-old was turning heads all weekend with her keen sense of style. On Christmas Day, Princess Anne's daughter bundled herself up in a white fur-lined coat and stylish brown stetson hat. Whereas on Boxing Day she went with fur-topped boots, a mini skirt and a short brown suede coat topped off by a 60s-style baker's cap.

After the service the Queen, aided by the Duchess of York's two daughters - Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, greeted hundreds of well-wishers who had gathered outside the church to present her with gifts and flowers.

And the royal Christmas celebration occurred without major incident incident, thanks to the work of Norfolk police who thwarted a group of fathers' rights campaigners aiming to disrupt the holiday service. Eight men were arrested as they attempted to climb one of the spires at St Mary Magdalene. All suspects involved in the stunt were later released without charge.
