Prince William and his brother Harry may soon be showing a more colourful side to their characters by appearing on The Simpsons. Producers on the cartoon series are hoping to get the second-in-line and his sibling to join Bart, Lisa, Homer and Marge for an episode of their hit show. "I think it would be funny to make one of them Lisa's boyfriend," revealed executive producer Al Jean. It wouldn't be the first time the residents of Springfield have encountered the Wales boys, as Lisa once created a prince based on William, while Bart enjoyed a night of revelry with Harry.

Getting the two royals to lend their voices to the series would be quite a coup, however. "I know they're image conscious, but I don't see what harm it would do," said Al, whose ambitions aren't limited to the new generation of British royals. "I'd love to get the Queen on the show too," he confessed. "That would really be something."

If Wills and Harry decide to accept the offer, they will follow in the cartoon footsteps of a galaxy of stars. Tony Blair, The Rolling Stones, Sir Paul McCartney, Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Jackson have all made cameos in previous episodes.

Back home in Britain, meanwhile, Wills has been enjoying some quality time with girlfriend Kate Middleton. The pair unwittingly gave chambermaids at the Shires hotel where they have been staying an insight into their romance after leaving their mobile phones behind in their room. One member of staff couldn't resist taking a peek at their text messages to one another, but the couple will be relieved to know the details of their communications will remain under wraps.

"They were actually quite innocent and touching," a source told the Daily Mail. "There was one slightly saucy one from William on Kate's mobile. It was rather sweet really, with a touch of the risqué about it. No one would be shocked."
