Crown Princess Maxima certainly seemed to be enjoying herself as she continued her tour of Morocco with husband Willem-Alexander this week.

Laughing heartily as she shared a joke with some young people in the provincial town of Amizmiz, the pretty royal made light work of charming local residents. The Dutch royals are currently visiting King Mohammed and his wife Lalla Salma to celebrate 400 years of friendship between their two countries. And it's been a hectic few days for their hosts, as the prime ministers of France and Spain also jetted in on Wednesday for festivities marking the 50th anniversary of Moroccan independence.

Little Crown Prince Hassan was the centre of everyone's attention at the merrymaking in the capital city Rabat. Sitting alongside his mother, who looked characteristically stylish in a chic white suit, the two-year-old pointed excitedly as his father delivered a speech to the politicians and dignitaries gathered together at the majestic Hassan Tower.

The monarch used the opportunity to honour his grandfather, King Mohammed V, who was forced into exile after boldly standing up to colonial rule. "Today's celebration is a tribute to the values and ideals epitomised by Mohammed V, blessed be his soul, especially the pursuit of freedom, which he made the guiding principle of his political actions," said the sovereign.
