Prince William's girlfriend Kate Middleton joined high street shoppers for the post-Christmas sales frenzy on a recent outing in the capital. While the second-in-line to the throne was with royal relatives at Sandringham, the pretty brunette and her mother Carole browsed for bargains in London's King's Road.
Mother and daughter both wore black coats, accessorized with trendy bags, as they popped into department store Peter Jones to check out the cut-price wares. Kate and her royal beau had been due to go skiing in Switzerland, so she may have been after something special to wear on holiday.
Despite her high-profile romance, the St Andrews graduate is known to be careful with her money. Just the previous day she was spotted making a mad dash into the menswear department of the French Connection store in Reading.
"It was brilliant, she was determined not to let the hordes of bargain hunters get in her way," said an onlooker, who noted that Kate "picked up two pairs of jeans and a jumper".
