Sweden's Princess Madeleine appeared alongside her parents at a reception in New York this week, putting paid to speculation over an alleged rift within the family ranks. Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf had been said to disagree with their daughter's decision to move in with her boyfriend.

The glamorous royal relocated to the Big Apple in January to take up a UNICEF internship, and was quickly followed by her beau Jonas Bergstrom. In order to be with his beloved the law student had lined up a position with a firm in the city.

Madeleine and Jonas were soon spotted out and about on the town, enjoying a high-profile visit to New York Fashion Week and an outing to a hockey game in Madison Square Gardens.

But there appeared to be no signs of discord over the relationship on Thursday when the young princess graced an official fundraiser in a rose pink flowing gown. Queen Silvia, meanwhile, made her entrance on her husband's arm wearing a stunning snow-white strapless creation, matched with a ruby-coloured necklace and earrings.

In fact the royal parents' relaxed demeanour would seem to suggest they're proud of their daughter's work in a UN department helping children in war-torn countries, and support her efforts to broaden her horizons with an overseas experience.
