Having just begun the second stage of his training as a military officer, Prince Harry must be getting used to the feel of combat fatigues. The fun-loving royal welcomed the chance to swap his army gear for riding clothes on Sunday afternoon, however, as he took to the field in the World Class Polo Cup.
Some fans were treated to a peek at the Prince's toned physique when he changed into his team's jersey at the back of a four-by-four. And one look at the 21-year-old's grin left onlookers with little doubt he was relishing the opportunity to indulge in his favourite sport once again. Returning to the polo field wasn't the only reason for the third-in-line's enthusiasm, though, as the competition was staged to raise money for his Aids charity.
Proceeds from the event will go to supporting the work of his non-profit organisation Sentebale in combating the Aids pandemic in Africa. Harry has made several trips to an orphanage in Lesotho and his friend Prince Seeiso was cheering from the sidelines at Sunday's fixture.
It would be fair to say the match was a success all round, because the Prince's team emerged victorious at the end of the day. Perhaps the only down point was the absence of his elder brother, who had also hoped to take part. Prince William was planning to join in the sporting action at Hurtwood Park, but staff officers at Sandhurst Military Academy told him his officer training would have to come first.
