The world got one of its first glimpses of the pretty schoolgirl who was revealed as Albert of Monaco's second love child this week. Jazmin Grace Rotolo was seen arriving at her private school in California, where she is in the eighth grade.

Accompanied by a bodyguard, the 14-year-old was driven from the home of her mother Tamara Rotolo in the city of Palm Desert. Dressed in a smart uniform of a white shirt and brown skirt, with her long chestnut hair flowing loose to her shoulders, Jazmin seemed happy and relaxed as her mum saw her off, despite the unexpected attention her story has received.

On Wednesday Prince Albert's lawyer Thierry Lacoste confirmed that the Monegasque head of state is the teenage girl's father, but said the royal had wanted to hold off from making it public until she reached adulthood.

Monaco's sovereign seems keen to be involved in the life of his daughter, although she is to remain in America. "For the time being, Jazmin Grace will pursue her studies in the United States, but she will always have the option to come to the principality to spend a few days or to live,'' said the attorney.

Last year the prince confirmed that he had fathered a son, Alexandre Coste, now aged three, following an affair with a Togolese air stewardess, Nicole Coste.
