Prince William is better known for his understated charm than his dancing skills, but all that may change after he got a lesson in fancy footwork from one of the England football team's most flamboyant players. The second in line was left in fits of laughter on Thursday when striker Peter Crouch gave him a demonstration of the robot dance he performed after scoring against Hungary earlier in the week.
The 23-year-old was eager to meet David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, and the rest of the squad as they continued preparations for their friendly against Jamaica on Saturday. But when he came face to face with the 6ft 7in Liverpool star, he couldn't help asking for a repeat of his famous goal celebration.
"It was surreal, but when the future king of England is asking to see it, you can't really turn him down," said the statuesque athlete afterwards. "I hope I haven't embarrassed my mum!"
Wills, who is honorary president of the Football Association, made a surprise visit to the national side's training ground to wish them luck at the World Cup later this month. And given that he's currently tackling the rigours of officer training at Sandhurst, there can be little doubt the Prince shares their desire to do their country proud.
"I wanted to send a good luck message to them direct," said the young royal. "I wished them luck and asked them to bring the World Cup home for us. They said they would. I am sure they will do very well. It would be awesome to win the World Cup."
