Recently returned from visits to Thailand and Mongolia, Crown Princess Maxima and her husband Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands have been travelling closer to home this week. The royal couple met up with Belgium's Princess Mathilde and Crown Prince Philippe for Dutch Queen Beatrix's official three-day state visit.
Reunited in the Belgian capital, the young foursome were snapped deep in conversation, no doubt reminiscing about their travels to Bangkok where they joined King Bhumibol for his 60th anniversary celebrations. And despite the formality of the occasion, Mathilde and Philippe, who have three young children together, were seen exchanging fond glances.
Good friends Maxima and Mathilde, who often attend charity functions together, added a dose of sparkle to a gala dinner in Laeken Castle on Tuesday. Both had donned diamonds and sequin-embellished gowns as well as sparkling tiaras for the evening's festivities.
Earlier in the day the two popular princesses looked equally glamorous as they greeted each other warmly at the airport. Maxima stepped off the plane impeccably dressed in stylish hat and coat, to be met by Belgium's future queen in a striking red ensemble.
