Lady Louise hitches ride back onto dry land from daddy

Proud dad Prince Edward carefully gave his little 'princess' a lift as the pair left a luxury cruiser at the weekend. And while her father maintained a firm grip on his precious burden, Lady Louise was also clinging on tightly - to an oversized stuffed toy.

The pretty two-year-old boarded the cruiser clutching a much smaller zebra, but by the end of the voyage this had been exchanged for a new fluffy friend.

Along with the rest of the royal party, the Earl and Louise, who was summery in skirt and protective sun hat, were disembarking the vessel hired by the Queen for an eight-day tour of the Hebrides. All received a big send-off from the crew of the Hebridean Princess as they stepped back onto dry land in Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis.

As the sea break with her family - including other granddaughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie - came to an end, the Queen was looking relaxed and visibly happy. And she was clearly enjoying being in off-duty mode as she made a rare appearance in trousers, rather than her usual skirt and jacket combinations.

It was the 80-year-old monarch's first cruise since the Royal yacht Britannia was decommissioned in 1997. She and her husband Prince Philip are now continuing their vacation at Balmoral Castle, while Prince Charles and Camilla move on to the Castle of Mey, also in Scotland.
