She's regarded by many as a princess-in-waiting but that doesn't mean Kate Middleton is ready to make drastic changes to her everyday life. Prince William's stunning girlfriend of four years has apparently ruled out a personal bodyguard.
Despite her growing public profile, the down-to-earth brunette is clearly in no hurry to make adjustments to her private life. According to the reports, Kate's security has been discussed at Clarence House, and one suggestion was to give her a 24-hour bodyguard husband-and-wife team.
But the St Andrews graduate, who according to friends is keen to retain her independence, has rejected the suggestion. A source told the Sunday Express: "Kate's a bright girl and she accepts there are going to be constraints on a girl who's dating Prince William but she thinks it would be far too much to have a personal protection team," he added.
While she is not considered to be in any immediate danger, shadow homeland security minister Patrick Mercer told the newspaper, "there is no doubt that a threat assessment will have been carried out on her and she will have been briefed fully on that." He added: "It is up to her to judge the situation on the advice of security services at this stage, but I would hope Miss Middleton has thought it all through very carefully."
If the couple do get engaged, then Kate, whose beau is currently training at Sandhurst military academy, would automatically be entitled to the same protection given to senior royals.
