Prince Christian gets royal wave lesson from mum

Doting parents Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark glowed with pride as their son Prince Christian stole the show at a recent family photoshoot. The beaming ten-month-old had everyone smiling as he practised his wave, with a little guidance from his Australian-born mum who is now an expert in royal protocol.

The young family were snapped together at beautiful Grasten Palace - the summer home of Queen Margarethe. In a tradition started by Margarethe's mother, Queen Ingrid, the extended royal family gather there annually for a seasonal break. And little Christian will not have been short of playfellows as he was joined by his young cousins, Prince Joachim's sons Nikolai and Felix.

Casually attired in light summer clothes and wearing sunglasses, Mary and Frederik could not have looked more relaxed as they watched the Guards Band play in the palace forecourt with their baby son. Future king Frederik has now got his hands full as he takes on the role of regent while his parents continue their vacation at their private palace in the South of France.
