Denmark's Queen Margrethe and her husband Prince Henrik seemed to be tasting the good life as they relaxed at their rural retreat in western France. Full of joie de vivre after a family holiday with their grandchildren in Scandinavia, the royal couple have been continuing their vacations with a stay at the beautiful Chateau de Cayx, the wine-growing estate they bought in 1974.
Set in the ancient town of Cahors, the country house is a favourite summer destination for the Danish royals, who export wine from its vineyards throughout the world. And the proud vintners couldn't resist an opportunity to show off the fine beverages in their cellars, raising a glass of their wine for the cameras during a photocall.
The area also holds many dear childhood memories for French-born Henrik, whose family settled there when he was five years old. And the prince has passed this passion to his children. Just a month ago Prince Joachim was pictured strolling around Cahors' market square with his youngest son, four-year-old Felix. Meanwhile, last autumn he was pictured on a romantic break in the country - this time in the historic city of Avignon - with his pretty French girlfriend Marie Cavallier.
