People had travelled from all over the world to visit Princess Diana's former home on the ninth anniversary of her death on Thursday. Although there was no official ceremony nor formal tributes hundreds of people from across Britain and further afield made the journey to Kensington Palace in London to remember the iconic royal.
It was on August 31, 1997, that the "people's princess", as she has come to be known, lost her life in a tragic car accident in Paris. Since then her memory has continued to shine brightly in both the media and the minds of her innumerable fans, many of whom were moved to tears as they left their offerings at the gates of the palace.
Father Frank Gelli, a priest from St Mary Abbots Church, which is located nearby, led many of the mourners in prayer. It is expected that a more formal official remembrance service will be staged next year on the tenth anniversary of Diana's passing.
