Since they made their vows five years ago, Norway's future king and queen have travelled to many of the world's most exotic locations. Home is obviously where the heart is, though, as Crown Prince Haakon and his wife Mette-Marit seemed just as enthralled when they paid a visit to the western county of Sogn og Fjordane this week.
The couple, who celebrated their anniversary just last week, waved enthusiastically to well-wishers as they disembarked from a ferry that had brought them to the remote islands of Bulandet. A large crowd of royal fans turned out to greet the VIP visitors as they stepped down onto dry land after the one hour trip from the mainland.
Haakon, looking typically dashing in his pinstripe suit, was particularly interested in getting to know the islands' younger residents. And he also had a close encounter with some of the territory's four-legged inhabitants when he and Mette-Marit stopped by a deer reserve.
Sogn og Fjordane is famous for its spectacular landscape, which includes Norway's largest glacier and deepest lake. The county is also home to the breathtaking Ramnejellsfossen waterfall, which at 820ft is one of the highest in the world.
