Fredensborg Palace in Copenhagen tends to be a busy place at this time of year, with Queen Margrethe playing host to members of her extended family. And Christmas 2006 was no exception, with the Greek royal family on hand to help the Danish household ring in the big day.
Ex-King Constantine and his wife Anne-Marie, who is the younger sister of Queen Margrethe, spent the holidays with their Danish relatives. And their children, Prince Pavlos, Princess Alexia and Prince Carlos, also travelled to the northern European nation, along with their own offspring.
Prince Joaquim's two sons, Nikolai and Felix, enjoyed the chance to share some playtime with their fellow royal youngsters, while Crown Princess Mary, who is expecting her second child with husband Frederik, kept a watchful eye on their bundle of joy, Prince Christian.
Across the waves in Norway Crown Prince Haakon and his wife Mette-Marit were likewise making the most of the festive season with their three children, Marius, Ingrid and Sverre-Magnus. The happy family was photographed wearing their country's traditional costume as they got ready for December 25.
And even though Christmas isn't such a major event in the Far East, the Japanese royals have been celebrating, too. Crown Princess Masako and her husband Naruhito joined the rest of the family at a banquet to mark Emperor Akihito's 73rd birthday on Wednesday.
