The glamour and the glitz of Monaco was alive in London this week as guests raised a glass of bubbly in celebration of the opening of the principality's new Consulate General. And there, leading the inauguration were two very special guests, Monegasque royals Prince Albert and his niece Charlotte Casiraghi.

The 49-year-old prince had jetted in especially to cut the ribbon outside the building in south-west London's Grosvener Street. But for Princess Caroline's pretty daughter - who put in an elegant appearance in head-to-toe black - the trip to the champagne reception was much shorter.

Charlotte, 21, is currently staying in the British capital while she undertakes work experience for a daily newspaper. As well as improving her CV, the pretty brunette is no doubt making the most of being in close proximity to her British boyfriend Alex Dellal, who runs a trendy art gallery in Hoxton Square.

While his niece settles into London life, Albert, it seems has been taking inspiration from the city's answer to traffic problems. Impressed by the congestion charge, which charges drivers a fee for entering the city centre he is thinking of introducing it in the principality.
