She's renowned for the cut glass accent that has always made her seem like royalty and this week Penelope Keith mingled with the real thing when she joined Prince Charles and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall at a special theatre performance in London.

The To The Manor Born actress joined the royal couple at the Theatrequest Grand Finale – the culmination of scheme set up by The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts to give youngsters the chance to experience different aspects of local theatre.

Entertaining the VIP guests were 50 kids from 13 schools around the country who put on a unique show which included sections from a play, a short film and a fashion parade.

Speaking to the children after the final curtain had come down Charles joked: "You can see I do have my uses - to allow you to get away from lessons."
