Prince William spoke poignantly this week of the importance of remembering lost loved ones as he and Prince Harry helped launch a charity set up in memory of a school pal who died in a car accident.
"Having lost someone so close in similar circumstances, Harry and I understand how important it is to keep their memory alive," said the second in line to throne, making reference to their late mother, Princess Diana.
The royal brothers have become joint patrons of the Henry van Straubenzee fund, which will help schools in Uganda by investing in resources. It was set up in honour of Henry, who died, aged 18, in 2002. The teenager was one of Harry's closest friends, and the pair were in the same year at Ludgrove School in Wokingham.
"Henry would be so proud of his family for what they are doing in his name," said 24-year-old Harry at the London reception.
