A lengthy wait for a meal to be served is something Prince William's unlikely to encounter at his London base of Clarence House.
As a trainee search and rescue pilot dropping by a fast food outlet for a quicke bite with 12 colleagues, Flight Lieutenant Wales, as he's known in the service, was treated to a rather different level of service, however.
The group was kept waiting for over an hour when they ordered at a Pizza Express close to their RAF base near Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
The delay eventually prompted a friend of the Prince to comment on the delay - drawing an apology and the offer of a free slice of cake from the establishment's manager.
"They were extremely polite and didn't throw their weight around," said Chris Leoci, who added he didn't recognise the future king until it became clear that fellow diners "especially the girls" were taking a particular interest in him.
