Prince Harry takes to the skies on first flight with Army Air Corps

Prince Harry has taken to the skies just weeks into his elite course to become a helicopter pilot with the Army Air Corps.

The royal looked relaxed as he prepared to fly a Slingsby Firefly at RAF Barkston Heath in Lincolnshire, first checking the light aircraft over with his instructor.

Though the action-man Prince flew the Slingsby during the assessment process for the programme, this was his first time in one during his training.

If he passes the demanding two-year course Harry - who spent ten weeks in Afghanistan last year - could be sent to fly sorties on the frontline.

After the flight the 24-year-old probably compared notes with his big brother. In early January, William flew his first training session at RAF Cranwell, during his training to become a search and rescue pilot.
