With a few pointers from their mum Princess Maxima 's young daughters' skiing skills seem to be coming on in leaps and bounds. Three-year-old Alexia, her middle girl, was quite at home showing off her skills for the cameras during the Dutch royals' annual break recently.

Dressed in an eye-catching red ski outfit like her mother and big sister Amalia, who's five, the princess glided confidently down the slopes at the family's favourite resort of Lech in Austria.

Making the holiday double the fun, Maxima and her husband Willem-Alexander were joined by Willem's mother Queen Beatrix and several cousins.

Also recently spotted in the Alps were Princess Stephanie of Monaco, who hit the pistes in Auron, France, and Denmark's Prince Joachim, sharing a break in Switzerland with his pregnant wife Marie and his sons.
