Crown Princess Mary has added 'action woman' to her list of credentials by completing officer training to become a lieutenant in Denmark's Home Guard.
The promotion means Mary - who completed basic training, including weapon use and marching drills, with the voluntary domestic defence organisation last year - follows in the footsteps of other members of the royal family.
Her mother-in-law, Queen Margrethe served in the Home Guard, her brother-in-law Prince Joachim is a member of the country's reserves, and her husband Prince Frederik trained with the naval, air and armed forces.
While the green beret and camouflage uniform means the mum-of-two is barely distinguishable from her co-volunteers, there is something which sets her apart - the nameplate adorning her military uniform, which reads 'Crown Princess Mary'.
