Four months ago she made her first solo trip abroad as a royal, visiting Moroccan orphanages to distribute Lego toys. This week Denmark's Princess Marie was again backing a project guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of more youngsters.

With her husband Joachim by her side, the 32-year-old royal helped box up some of the 5,000 Lego sets that will go to children in hospital.

Their efforts to help bring cheer to poorly youngsters may have led the royal couple to reflect on their good fortune in having such a thriving family.

Six months pregnant with their first child together, Marie is also stepmother to Joachim's offspring from a previous marriage - nine-year-old Nikolai and Felix, who's six.
