Passionate environmentalist Prince Charles has delivered his most urgent plea to date about the need to tackle climate change. Addressing 200 business leaders and officials in Brazil, he told them mankind has 100 months to alter its behaviour "before we risk catastrophic climate change and the unimaginable horrors this would bring".
"The threat of catastrophic climate change calls into question humanity's continued survival on the planet," he said. The Prince's keynote speech was delivered in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, half way through his and Camilla's Latin America tour.
"We are, I fear, at a defining moment in the world's history," said Charles who, while acknowledging the recession, says it's impact will be nothing "compared to the full effects which global warming will have on the worldwide economy".
On Saturday he and Camilla, who are currently on a ten-day, three-nation tour of Chile, Brazil and Ecuador's Galapagos Islands, are due to visit the Amazon rainforest to see how it has been affected by climate change.
