No strangers to farming, Gloucestershire estate owners Prince Charles and his wife Camilla got a taste of a more urban version this week on a visit to the London borough of Hackney's city farm in the capital's East End on Wednesday.
Upon their arrival the couple were presented with badges - a borough crest for Charles and a slogan reading 'I heart Hackney' for his wife, who initially put it in her bag, but then changed her mind and pinned it onto her navy jacket.
At the farm the pair, who were helping celebrate the work of the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, of which Charles is patron, got to meet some of its furry residents. Camilla's eye was particularly drawn to one guinea pig, and a golden Guernsey goat which she was shown how to groom by four-year-old Wilhelmina Hornero.
They also toured the farm's vegetable gardens and chatted to volunteers. In the course of their visit they were filled in on nationwide farm projects which are successfully teaching children where their food really comes from.
And the royal visitors didn't go home empty handed, taking away a rose bush, flowers, a jar of the farm's own honey, chili plants and a small handmade pot.
