Having secured two A's and a B at A level last year – the highest grades achieved by any member of the royal family - Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew's daughter Eugenie could have her pick of university.

The 19-year-old, who is currently touring the world on her gap year, reportedly wants to continue her education in the States. And in the frame is Massachusetts' Williams College – a £31,000 a year liberal arts establishment.

The Daily Express reports Eugenie's mum visited the private residential college three weeks ago to take a look around and discuss sending her younger daughter there. A spokesman for the college declined to confirm the April 22 meeting.

Eugenie, who took A levels in Art, English Literature and History of Art at Wiltshire's prestigious Marlborough College last year, had previously suggested she would like to study at either Bristol or Newcastle.
