The Duchess of York's daughters Beatrice and Eugenie credit their mother for their down-to-earth manner and compassion towards those less privileged.

Like their cousins amongst the younger generation of royals, their warm, unaffected style with ordinary members of the public has also drawn comparisons with their aunt Princess Diana.

This was very much apparent on Eugenie's first official solo engagement, hosting a team of footballers from the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association as a favour to a family friend.

Known for her vivacious and affectionate nature, the 19-year-old Princess didn't stand on ceremony as she showed them round Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge stadium, at one point hugging one of the young players.

During a thrilling day for the youngsters they also met their hero Frank Lampard, had lunch at the Orangery restaurant in West London, and were treated to some sightseeing in the capital, accompanied by Eugenie throughout.

Later this summer the Princess will step up her involvement in charity work, interning for her mother's Children In Crisis organisation before starting university next autumn.
