The weather was bright, the bride appeared radiantly happy and all the guests shared her intoxicating joy – every detail was perfect. For Prince Harry attending the wedding of his close friend, former royal equerry Mark Dyer must also have been a poignant event.
As the dashing royal witnessed the 43-year-old former Welsh Guards officer tenderly kissing his Texan bride Amanda Kline, part of him was probably also thousands of miles away with his own love Chelsy Davy.
Perhaps he was wondering if they too will have their own happy ever after. They are not in crisis as has been reported in the tabloid newspapers. Nor is the pretty Zimbabwean law graduate planning to move back to Africa.
HELLO! has learnt from a source close to Chelsy that she will come back to London in the near future. "She simply wants to take some time off to go travelling before she starts her job as a trainee solicitor, " said the source. But theirs is undoubtedly a difficult situation. Harry's army career and royal duties take him around the globe.
Meanwhile, Chelsy, whose parents are now based in Zambia, has at times struggled to adapt to life in Britain.
Still, the 25-year-old wouldn't have let these thoughts spoil his enjoyment of his pal's special day. The pair go back a long way since Mark acted as a mentor and companion to Prince Charles' youngest son during his gap year.
They apparently travelled together in Australia, Lesotho and Argentina, and frequently socialise together in London.
