Practicing for the first dance? Recently engaged Albert takes Charlene in his arms

August 2, 2010

They gazed lovingly into each other's eyes as they swept gracefully across the dance floor. And though it was impossible to know what they were thinking, chances are that Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock were imagining the moment they would take their first dance as man and wife.

The royal couple were getting festivites started at Monaco's Red Cross Ball. And though all eyes were on the couple – who this week announced a change in their wedding date – they seemed lost in their own little world.

Charlene was stunning in a nude mermaid dress with cross back detail at the event, which is one of the annual highlights in the Monaco social calendar. Joining the husband and wife-to-be at the event was Princess Stephanie – on hosting duty with her brother.

The Monegasque royal made an impression in a striking floor length metallic pink dress, which opened at the front to show a shorter skirt section. Famous faces in attendance included German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld and Britain's own Tom Jones, who provided the evening's musical entertainment.
