Royal wedding: Expectant Victoria cements style leader status at biggest VIP event to date

April 29, 2011

From her days as Spice Girl to her new career as a top fashion designer, Victoria Beckham has attended some of the world's most high profile parties. But they must have paled in significance compared to Friday's momentous nuptials. After all the speculation and anticipation about how she would dress for her pregnancy, the style icon didn't disappoint as she sashayed into Westminster Abbey.

Accompanied by husband David, the 37-year-old was the epitome of maternity chic in a slashed-neck, navy-blue shift dress from her Autumn/Winter 2012 line.Due to her over six-month baby bump, she opted for one of the many loose looks that she sent down the runway in February. The acclaimed fashion designer teamed this with trademark, specially customised Christian Louboutin heels. Meanwhile, a stiff, navy fascinator which incorporated a flower design and curled detailing, fashioned by Phillip Treacey, was perched atop her slicked-back hair. Husband David was equally stylish, clad in a navy Ralph Lauren made-to-measure morning suit to colour-coordinate with his wife.He complimented the dashing suit with a grey tie, personalised DB cufflinks and black crocodile braces. The groomed Beckhams were two of only a handful of celebrities invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton's nuptials.Joining the former Spice Girl was pal Elton John – a close friend of William's late mother - and his partner David Furnish.

The pop legend looked dapper in black tails and grey trousers, but stayed true to his more flamboyant side in a gold waistcoat and purple tie.Guy Ritchie, Madonna's ex, looked particularly pleased to be playing a part in the royal couple's big day, having brought his new girlfriend as his plus one.And Tara Palmer-Tomkinson – daughter of close family friends of Prince Charles, had made an extra special effort – sporting an electric blue, structured cowl-neck dress, accessorised with matching gloves and an oversized hat.
