It was simple, yet dazzling; regal yet unassuming. True to form, down-to-earth Princess Charlene had gone for understated sophistication.  In her silk Giorgio Armani bridal gown, the newest member of the Grimaldi family looked stunning as she sealed her love for Prince Albert in a religious ceremony.

Simple in design and impeccably constructed, the dress was cut from 130 metres of silk, studded with 40,000 crystals and embellished with 20,000 teardrops fashioned from mother-of-pearl.

The wonderful creation, which required months of handiwork, gave centre stage to Charlene’s natural beauty and elegance, showing off her slender yet statuesque silhouette to perfection.

The asymmetrical, off-the-shoulder neckline, intricate floral adornment and dainty white bouquet lent an understated brilliance to the blonde.

The veil boasted extravagant layers of silk tulle that managed to create a simple yet dramatic effect, resting gently upon her flowing train that reached almost five metres long.

Her minimal make-up, consisting of nude pinks lips and shimmery eyes enhanced by a lick of mascara, only served to accentuate her natural grace.

She had opted to forgo a tiara and jewellery aside from an intricately designed silver jewelled headpiece that curved gracefully across the top of her low chignon and held her veil in place.
