Samantha Cameron turned manicurist this week at the launch of a charity campaign to support the families of disabled children. The Prime Minister's wife treated worn-out parents to a pampering at the event in Lewisham, south-east London.

During the event, Samantha sat at a makeshift nail bar, painting nails and happily chatting away to her 'customers' whilst helping to launch the Stronger Families Happier Lives campaign. The mother-of-four spoke of raising her son Ivan, who suffered from cerebral palsy and epilepsy and died, aged six, in 2009. "I speak from personal experience when highlighting how essential it is for any parent with a disabled child to have a break from daily care and to share their experiences with other parents in the same situation," she said in a statement. "It makes all the difference to have a support network and to exchange advice and concerns."

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the challenges 770,000 UK families with disabled children face. Contact A Family provides support for families with disabled children, including workshops that help parents cope with the challenges of caring for their child. The charity has been operating for more than 30 years.
