October 19, 2011

According to reports, France's first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been admitted to hospital to give birth to her second child

French President Nicolas Sarkozy reportedly accompanied his wife as she checked in at the Clinique de la Muette in Paris. The sex of the baby is still unknown as well as possible names, but the singer did admit in a recent interview that the birth could happen any time after October 1.

The supermodel-turned-musician hasn't spoken much about her pregnancy because she's been superstitious about it. "I'm superstitious, so yes, I've been very careful," she told the BBC. "But there isn't much to say. So many women are expecting children and giving birth, and it's so uninteresting for French people. "The new addition to the family will mean that Carla's ten-year-old son Aurelien, from a previous relationship, will get a new playmate.

Her husband has three sons, Pierre, Jean and Louis from two previous marriages.

Doctors at the hospital have confirmed that the Italian-born first lady has reserved four suites, each valued at 250 euros per night. One for the future mum, one for the father and the other two for the bodyguards, who will accompany them at all times.Hospital workers also told a French radio station that the suites are not "particularly luxurious".Medical personnel have been instructed to make every effort to insure their stay is as pleasant as possible.More news on Carla Bruni's baby
