Ten months after giving birth to twins Vincent and Josephine, Princess Mary of Denmark is glowing with renewed vitality and energy. She cut a studious and focused figure in a New York classroom, where she rolled up her sleeves to help students with an exercise.
The princess is easing herself back into official duties after having twins with a second official overseas trip since their arrival. In September, she travelled to a Kenyan refugee camp and listened to the harrowing stories of Somalians affected by the famine in their country.
And this week Mary, a mother of four, was a natural with the children at Harlem Children's Zone Promise Academy II as they worked and played together.Keen to make it clear that learning can be light-hearted too, at one point the 39-year-old jokingly squinted through her hands to 'see' a maths problem on the board. Later, she joined royal families from Denmark's neighbours to open an art exhibition at the Scandanavia House gallery. The elegant royal party included Sweden’s King and Queen, Carl Gustaf and Silvia, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway.
