Tension and excitement on famous faces at Ascot

June 21, 2012

Her hands clenched and shouting at the top of her voice, the Countess of Wessex for a moment forgets royal decorum.

She could be forgiven for her lapse, because her mother-in-law's horse Carlton House was running at Ascot.

Also getting into the spirit was Christine Bleakley and her footballer fiancé Frank Lampard, who was celebrating his 34th birthday.

The couple have just returned from a holiday in the Italian Riviera - Frank was left out of the England Euro 2012 team because of an injury.

Despite Sophie's vocal support for the thoroughbred, he came in second in the Prince of Wales stakes.

They were among a host of famous faces enjoying the sunshine on day two of Royal Ascot.

Following their sunny break, they kissed and cuddled as they watched the day's races, Christine showing off her dazzling engagement ring as she sipped from a glass of celebratory rose champagne.

The Queen's daughter Princess Anne was also there.

Ahead of Zara's Olympic debut this summer, she headed to Ascot to soak up the atmosphere – perhaps using her nous as a champion equestrian to have a flutter.

Also attending day two were football star Michael Owen, Prince Harry's former flame Florence Brudenell-Bruce, Steps singers Lisa Scott-Lee and Faye Tozer and TV presenter Kate Silverton.

Jenson, dressed in a three-piece suit and a top hat, looked the perfect gentleman as he escorted his long-term love to the races.

And TV presenter Christine has done a good job of taking his mind of the competition.

Another red hot couple were Formula 1 ace Jenson Button and his beautiful girlfriend Jessica Michibata.
